AMC Decision to remove aircraft markings
When the USAF’s Air Mobility Command decided to eliminate aircraft tail flash it caused waves of considerable comment throughout the USAF community. For decades, the skies have been graced by the presence of cargo planes and tankers bearing the proud “U.S. AIR FORCE” lettering. Like a canvas, these aircraft adorned with distinctive artwork and images were a flying tradition now removed for what was deemed operational security. What we are left with are sterilized aircraft sitting on the ramp. Going away is years of tradition framed by heritage and history. These images and artwork must be preserved.
